ISKCON, the largest Radha Krishna Temple on ECR built on 15 acres of
land will be formally inaugurated on April 26. The scenic beach road ECR
just got better, thanks to a new addition this year, the magnificent
ISKCON temple. ISKCON Chennai will be inaugurating the 'Centre for
Spiritual Art and Culture' which includes a temple off ECR at the Hare
Krishna land, Sholinganallur.
The Shri Radha Krishna temple is a new symbol of rich Indian culture
designed with architectural excellence. The construction of the ‘Centre
for Spiritual Art and Culture’ began in 2002. Spread over an area of
over 1.5 acres, the temple is constructed on five levels. There is a
7,000 sq ft temple hall on the first floor, an auditorium for cultural
and spiritual programmes on the ground floor and a prasadam hall in the
basement.
In the temple hall, there are three beautifully carved teak-wood altars
which house the deities of Lord Krishna with His consort Radharani, Lord
Chaitanya with Lord Nityananda and Lord Jagannath, Baladeva and
Subhadra. These beautiful deities have been sourced from from Jaipur and
Odisha.
Designed under the guidance of Sri Bhanu Swami, the temple has imbibed
various attributes from Vedic scripture and is inspired by Pallava
architecture.
The festivities start on April 26 at 9 a.m. and will continue till 2 pm.
The Maha Kumbabhishekam will take place at 11:30 a.m. and Mangala arati
at 12:30pm. Maha prasadam will be distributed at 1 p.m.
