Radio&Music: MUMBAI: Times Music in association with Bangalore based NGO ‘The
Akshaya Patra Foundation’ has unveiled single ‘Gyan ki Roshni’ rendered
by Shankar Mahadevan and penned by Javed Akhtar.
The track is a part of the NGO’s ‘Ode to a Billion’ campaign, launched to celebrate one billion meals served to school children across India from the past 10 years. It captures the emotions of the volunteers and the happiness of the children as well. Initially commencing as a small initiative, the movement now spans over 9000 schools and 1.3 million children.
The song is aimed to create awareness on hunger and education in the country. It is available for download across various digital platforms like Nokia Music Store, Flipkart, iTunes, Amazon and more.
The single was launched by Mahadevan, who said, “There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that your work will help to address a social cause. The song which has been composed for Akshaya Patra will help to raise awareness about the challenge of hunger and education. It has very powerful lyrics written by Javed Akhtar sahab. I am very happy to have been part of this initiative and I hope large audiences listen to this composition. Each download matters.”
