The Hindu: The newly built Shri Jagannath Temple at Habbuwada in
Karwar by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) would
be inaugurated on January 19, said Swami Uddhavanand Das. Swami Bhakthi
Rasamrutha Maharaj of ISKCON would inaugurate the temple.
Addressing
presspersons here on Wednesday in ISKCON here, Swami Uddhavanand Das
said the temple inauguration would be followed by spiritual programmes
for two days on January 20 and 21. He said that ISKCON had been holding
Jagannath Rath Yatra once in a year in Karwar for the last several
years. Now people could have the
darshan
of Lord Jagannath every day instead of once in year during Rath Yatra.
He
said that ISKCON had planned to open branches at different places in
Uttara Kannada district. ISKCON has units in Sirsi, Honnavar, Bailoor,
Murudeshwar, and Shirali.
The mission of the organisation was to propagate spiritual knowledge in society.
Swami
Uddhavanand Das said that by conducting satsang (spiritual meetings)
every Sunday in colleges and schools, ISKCON was reaching out to
students through the Bhagavad Gita.
