BANGALORE: Corporation Bank donated a mid-day meal distribution vehicle to the Akshaya Patra Foundation recently.
The custom-built vehicle is insulated to maintain optimal temperature, is dust-free and helps to retain the freshness of the meals. The meal delivery vehicle will help transport hot, nutritious meals from the centralized kitchens to about 4,000 children daily in 40 schools each day.
Officials from the bank visited Akshaya Patra to flag-off the mid-day meal delivery vehicle. The officials also visited the Akshaya Patra kitchen to understand how Akshaya Patra's kitchen caters to the needs of thousands of children across the city every school working day.
Madhu Pandit Dasa, chairman, the Akshaya Patra Foundation, said, "Many organizations in the banking sector have always supported Akshaya Patra in its endeavor. We are honored that reputed organizations like Corporation Bank has continued to strengthen its partnership with us. With their continued support, we hope that we will be able to reach out to more hungry children across the country and by 2020 to at least five million children across India."
